Abstract partnered with katto to create a digital platform capable of extending the experimental nature of the gallery into an online environment. The challenge focused on designing a system that feels exploratory and expressive without sacrificing structure or usability. The work combined web experiences, creative strategy, and visual systems into an environment designed around curiosity and interaction.

Abstract exists as more than a physical gallery. The space operates as an evolving platform for artists and ideas crossing disciplines and formats. Research explored experimental publishing systems, digital archives, and interactive storytelling environments. The intention was creating a structure capable of feeling open without becoming chaotic. This phase established flexibility and exploration as guiding principles.

The visual system was built through contrast. Spacious layouts sit beside darker moments, rigid structures meet softer movement, and typography balances control with expression. Rather than creating visual consistency through repetition, consistency emerges through rhythm and relationships. The system behaves like an adaptable framework rather than a strict identity.

The digital platform introduces layered content, interactive artist profiles, and exhibition structures designed for exploration. Movement and transitions create moments of discovery while preserving orientation and clarity. Visitors are encouraged to spend time rather than simply consume information.

An archive system was developed to organize exhibitions, themes, and collaborations across time. The structure supports both immediate access and long-term storytelling. Editorial content extends the experience through interviews, essays, and behind-the-scenes material. This creates continuity between exhibitions rather than isolated moments.

The final system transforms Abstract into a digital space that behaves as an extension of its physical identity. Rather than displaying art online, the experience creates another environment for experimentation itself.
